Health Coach
What is a health coach you might ask? A health coach is a professional guide and mentor who empowers individuals to take responsibility for their health and supports them in making sustainable lifestyle choices. Health coaches do not prescribe one diet or one way of living. Rather, they help foster a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for their clients' bodies. These goals can include weight management, digestion, food cravings, simple healthy cooking, sleep, energy, stress, and time management. I help navigate lifestyle changes that nourish you from the inside out.
As a health coach, I am your personal advocate for living an energized and passionate life. I work with my clients to help them create happy, healthy, meaningful lives in a way that is fun, flexible and delicious. By working together, we can discover the food and lifestyle choices that best support you so you can support your loved ones, relationships, spiritualities and your careers. Making gradual, sustainable lifelong changes enables you to reach your current and future health goals.
I have been a nurse for over 20 years in a wide variety of health care settings from Maine to San Franscisco. I have always been interested in complimentary/alternative & preventative medicine, which combines western medicine with natural and other medical approaches that go beyond the biomedical paradigm. These approaches expand our understand of - and the the possibilities for - nutrition, herbs, essential oils, light, time, touch, sensation, energy and the mind's ability to enter into health and medicine. The ultimate goal is a synthesis of the connection of the mind and body for optimal health, happiness and wellness.
I am passionate about assisting people in finding their internal compass for health and happiness. Life is too short. Let's live the best life possible - right? We know that 80% of disease in America is preventable by proper lifestyle choices, yet we continue to harm ourselves and our children with poor choices including processed foods, sugar, chemicals, additives, smoking, and lack of exercise. What you do with your fingers, feet and fork can change your life. Health care costs continue to rise while overall health declines. I want to be a part of the food, health and wellness revolution. I am starting with myself and my beautiful daughter, Sage, my family & friends and my community. I want people to be well...it feels good to feel good as my father would say!
Through my health coaching training at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NY, NY, I have studied over 100 dietary theories. This past year it has reinforced my beliefs that you are what you eat. It has never been more important to cook and eat whole, simple, unprocessed, non-GMO, local, seasonal and organic foods. Food is medicine. That being said, it is not always easy to navigate the world of nutrition, health and wellness. This is void the health coach seeks to fill.
